Upcoming Event: Eve of Revolution

Join us on Thursday March 12th at 7PM at Aldersgate UMC (235 Park St) as we step back in time and experience the events of April 19, 1775, through the eyes of those who lived them. This living history program begins in the present day before transporting audiences to 1812, where participants reflect back on the momentous day the American Revolution began. Featured presenters portray three historical witnesses: the Rev. Edmund Foster of Reading, who took part in the battle; Joseph Mason, a fifer with the Lincoln Minute Men; and Mary Hartwell, who observed the events unfolding from her home along the Battle Road. Through vivid storytelling and authentic character portrayals by volunteers from Friends of the Minute Man National Park, audiences will gain a personal perspective on the dramatic opening of the Revolutionary War. The program concludes by returning to the present for an interactive question-and-answer session, offering attendees the opportunity to delve deeper into this pivotal moment in American history. This event is free, open to all, and part of the Society's commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of U.S. Independence.
